North Port Taekwondo was selected as the 2011 'Small Business of the Year' by the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce at its Annual Awards Luncheon held on December 15, 2011. Chamber and community involvement as well as accomplishments and challenges overcome in the past year were considered for all eleven nominees in the Small Business category. The selection process included an application followed by an interview with the judges' panel. | ||||

7/30/11 Sabomnim Steger Earns Gold and Grand Champion at Yong-In University Presidential Cup |

Sabomnim Steger earned first place in poomsae and Grand Champion - Poomsae out of all poomsae competitors age eighteen and older. This was the fifth Yong-In University Presidential Cup international tournament. Held in Greensboro, North Carolina, the tournament attracted teams from countries including Puerto Rico and Korea. | ||||

7/2/11 Sabomnim Steger Earns Gold at USAT National Championship |

Steger placed first out of eleven competitors in this year's First Masters Poomsae competition, and his team placed first in the Second Male Team category. Held in San Jose, California, this tournament is USA Taekwondo's annual national-level competition for the top taekwondo athletes in the country. Congratulations, Sabomnim! |

6/18/11 North Port Taekwondo Earns Top Overall School at Sunshine State Games |

North Port Taekwondo was named the Top Overall School at the 2011 Sunshine State Games held in Lakeland, Florida. Twenty-eight students competed and earned a total of seventy-five medals in three event categories (29 gold, 33 silver, 13 bronze). Congratulations on your dedication and performance - we're looking forward to next year's competition already! |

4/2/11 Sabomnim Steger Earns First in Sport Poomsae For the third year in a row, Sabomnim took first place in the First Masters Division in Sport Poomsae at the Florida State Qualifier held in Sarasota this past weekend. He now goes on to compete in the USAT Poomsae Team Trials in Buffalo, New York, in May. Poomsae team trials are being held earlier this year as the team will be competing in Vladivostok, Russia, in July. |

3/23/11Sabomnim & Kyosahnim Steger Attend Inaugural Last week, Sabomnim and Kyosahnim completed training to become Ambassadors for the City of North Port. This new City program gives community stakeholders "the opportunity to become directly involved in marketing their City and offering insight about North Port as a choice location for business, leisure, and a great residential lifestyle". The next class will be held Fri., April 29th, and local residents, youth, and business owners are invited to participate.
